The First Time I Heard…

Something pretty exciting happened to us last year: Scott Heim, author of Mysterious Skin, invited us to contribute to a project called “The First Time I Heard…” in which we (and other musicians and writers) describe the first time we heard certain bands for the very first time. There are 5 books covering David Bowie, The Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, The Smiths and Joy Division/New Order…

Scott plans to release them as e-books in May, but needs support with editing, layout, art-work and publishing: he’s created a Kickstarter project that will hopefully help fund that work.

We can’t wait to read each other’s essays (we’ve kept them secret so far) and all the contributions from the amazing line-up of artists, every little helps – you can read all about the project here:

Symbiosis #84 – New Isan Mix

Online today – a new mix we made for Symbiosis – a little document of places we have been and tracks we have liked.

The mix is a blend of tracks by several artists and field recordings made by us both separately and also together while were working in Brazil. The recordings are all treated in some way – so it’s in the “Isan spirit” of working separately and together, creating new things over time and distance… hope you enjoy it – headphone listening recommended!

Homemade Mountains Video

Christina Vantzou has a made a video from found footage for the remix we did of Homemade Mountains… it’s wonderful, but in the end probably best described in her own words…. “If there was an opera adaptation of Incubus – starring William Shatner, a film about the perils of romance on a strange island inhabited by demons- this would be the trailer and soundtrack”
